The Bureau – XCOM Declassified is a science fiction based video game in the X – COM series, released by 2K Games and developed by 2K Marin for Windows, Xbox – 360 and PlayStation – 3 on August 20, 2013. Gme was development under different titles by three different studios since 2006. Unveiled as a First – Person Shooter titled in June 2010 and it has been repeatedly delayed as changed then. In April 2013 this game was rebranded as the Bureau - XCOM Declassified in its final version third person view tactical shooter element are provided.
In 1962 US, the game tells story of CIA special Agent name William Carter working for the US Bureau of Strategic and Emergency command, tasked with stopping and investigating an extraterrestrial incursion on American soil, all keeping it secret and erase all evidence.
Already prior to the games E3 2010 debut the developers of game began experiencing different difficulties both technically and creatively.
Early year 2K publishing had a large portion of 2K Marin to assist 2K Australia in developing this game. Soon the two studios were merged under name of ‘2K Marin’. Australian branch worked over single player components and California was assigned multiplayer mode. These tow studios were slowed down due to communication issues and they found it difficult to implement the Stealth gameplay.
Initial public reaction to reveal of XCOM in 2010 was negative. Julian Gollop alsp criticized original announcement version of game. The reactions have improved when XCOM was redesigned. 1UP.com version called as ‘dark horse’ of E3 2011.
