Flashback video game is a science fiction game remake of original 1992 Flashback. Game was developed by original game designer Paul Cuisset. Game published by Ubisoft and released on 21st August2013 for XBOx Live Arcade and will release for PlayStation in Q3/Q4 of 2013.
Due to fan interest VectorCell approached to Ubisoft about remaking of Flashback 1992. Ubisoft’s Guillaume Da Costa Viera said the company’s employees were fans of game and ‘jumped at opportunity’. They sought to remake game’s ‘original spirit’ while attempting to improve game. Paul Cuisset, original Flashback team lead is directing the remake. There are five members from original 1992 join the team. Cuisset had acquired license for game and was waiting for right time to start. Game was unveiled in 10th April 2013 in Germany.
Team considers a remake of original. Improvements include features from both player feedback and improved technologies since 1992. For example new sill system that trades the points for skill improvements and character customization. Story has also been expanded and graphics updated. Story adds new plot twists, voice acting and dialogues. New graphics put gamin 2.5D from original rotoscoped 2D. Now system aiming is 360 degrees. Games difficulty was decreased.
Game a part of Microsoft’s Summer of Arcade and released on August. Game will include a part of original 1992 game along remake.
